94 Harley-Davidson FLHTCU – Full Frame-Up Motorcycle Restoration This 1994 Harley FLHTCU returned to HD Industries in Bear River years after we originally sold it – rough from long-term storage. Mold, surface corrosion, and general neglect had taken their toll, but structurally it was sound. The goal: preserve the original paint exactly as it was and rebuild everything else from the bare frame up for a clean, aggressive, modern touring bike.
The bike was completely disassembled down to the last bolt. Every component was inspected, replaced, refinished, or upgraded – no shortcuts, no reused worn parts.
Engine & Drivetrain – Full Fresh Build The motor received a complete ground-up rebuild with top-tier components:
S&S heads, pistons, and cases
Andrews cam
Adjustable pushrods
Mikuni carburetor
New 3-phase charging system
New clutch
2-into-1 exhaust
Every engine component was blacked out to match the theme. The result is a strong, responsive powerplant that runs and performs far better than stock – reliable power with modern feel.
Blacked-Out Finishing & Powder Coating A defining feature of this build: zero chrome. We eliminated all original brightwork for a stealthy, cohesive look:
Frame sandblasted and powder coated
153 individual parts sandblasted and powder coated satin black
Every formerly chromed piece refinished in durable black
The all-black treatment ties the entire motorcycle together – aggressive, clean, and purposeful.
Electrical System Old Harley touring bikes are notorious for electrical issues. We fixed that permanently:
Full Painless Wiring harness installed
Clean, simple routing and layout
Modern reliability with no more gremlins
Audio Upgrade To complete the touring experience:
Full Kicker audio system professionally installed
Clean fitment with zero clutter – sounds as good as it looks
Seat & Bodywork
Factory seat reshaped and reworked for a lower, more modern Street Glide-style stance and comfort
Original paint preserved exactly – no respray, no touch-ups, kept authentic
Final Result This 1994 FLHTCU left the shop tight, fast, and exactly as it should have been from the factory – but better. A full frame-up restoration with modern charging and wiring, a fresh high-performance motor, upgraded audio, and a murdered-out blacked appearance that turns heads. It’s the kind of no-compromise motorcycle rebuild we specialize in at HD Industries.
